Idle Cure's *Inside Out* Album Cover

About the Album

Hey there!

It’s been a while. Life’s been pretty crazy, but I have been wanting to start posting reviews again.

I’m going to try to start reviewing the albums I bought in my last big music haul. I will begin with one that I have played pretty often since I got it.

Inside Out was released in 1991 by the band Idle Cure. The cover art is interesting (though at first it reminded me of a statue of an idol); it looks like the head of a statue in the background with a computer circuit board in the foreground. It also kind of gives me video game vibes, like a pinball machine. I’m still not quite sure what is represented on the cover, but my initial misgivings were laid to rest when I read the album’s song lyrics and started listening to the music.

Music Style

The album starts out quiet, but you know something is coming. You don’t have to wait long – the first song builds satisfyingly quickly and lets you know that this album offers that awesome 80s/90s rock sound.

Inside Out has a good mix of rocking songs and quieter songs. It sets the mood well by starting off with two songs that have their own quiet-and-pretty and loud-and-rocky blends, doing an excellent job of drawing the listener in to want more.

But even more importantly, the album has excellent lyrics. The first song is a battle cry to reclaim God’s Kingdom for our nation, and the second song is a wake-up call about the sanctity of life. Other topics include holding on to God’s promises and avoiding the world’s vicious cycle of rushing to the top and falling to the bottom.

It is definitely easy to listen to this album on repeat!
